Galilean Christian will be on the road to get the 31st season of Eagle Basketball underway. GCA will face the Heart for Christ (homeschool group) Panthers in Louisville, KY October 26 at 6pm.
Five seniors from last season’s team are gone with three playing college basketball, but the Eagles will not be without experience.
Galilean returns two starters from a year ago in seniors Javion Jackson and Lee Van Lew II. The Eagles also return significant role players like junior Caleb Burrows and senior Lucas Cook while senior combo guard Caleb Lewis will make his much-anticipated debut.
There will be some new blood in the mix as well with AJ Lightbourne at a forward position and Aaron Brown at an off-guard spot. Some of the younger Eagles from last season will be seeing some opportunity as well.
This will be Scott Jones’ 19th season at the helm as the long-time coach will look to improve on his 479 – 189 career record. There have been 16, 20-win seasons under coach Jones including 11 in-a-row. Jones has also authored six, 30-win seasons while winning three KCSAA State Championships (2015, 2016, 2017) and two NACA National Championships (2009, 2015).
