10-0 feels pretty good!
It was a well-played game with (2) Somerset Christian giving (1) Galilean all they wanted all night long. Our Eagles held off the Cougars 84-74.
For the second time in three games GCA beat a number-two ranked KCAA squad as Somerset moved into the two spot in Tuesday morning’s release of this week’s Power Poll after Galilean defeated then number two Heritage on Saturday.
Three Eagles broke 20 in the win Tuesday night paced by junior Caleb Burrows’ 24 points (to go with five rebounds). Senior Caleb Lewis put up 24 while leading Galilean with five assists and five steals. Freshman Aaron Brown posted his third double double of the season and also setting a new career high with 21 points while adding 10 boards.
Senior Lee Van Lew II added seven points, four assists and three rebounds as senior Lucas Cook scored three points to go with three rebounds and a steal. Junior Preston Adams chipped in with two points, five rebounds and two blocks. Sophomore AJ Lightbourne added a bucket and a rebound.
The 84-74 win gives Galilean a 10-0 start to the season and earns coach Scott Jones career win 488.
